Pierre was searching for interesting applications for the Internet and was interested in the concept of free markets that naturally produce the fair and correct price for goods or services that anyone wanted to sell.It was launched as a place to trade collectables and hard-to-find items.

Today eBay is a global marketplace where businesses and individuals can buy and sell practically anything.
