Feedback = Reputation

The Feedback can answer many questions about how an eBay member does business.
The rating number in parentheses can be found beside the member user ID.

For example: abcmember(95) , meaning there are 95 feedbacks and comments received from other eBay members.

How it works:
+1 point for each positive comment

0 points for each neutral comment

-1 point for each negative comment

A member gets a star icon if received 10 or more positive comments. The colour of the star tells you how many comments the member has received. Having a positive ratings will give eBay member a good reputation.

Here's what the different stars mean:
Yellow star () = 10 to 49 points
Blue star () = 50 to 99 points
Turquoise star () = 100 to 499 points
Purple star () = 500 to 999 points
Red star () = 1,000 to 4,999 points
Green star () = 5,000 to 9,999 points
Yellow shooting star () = 10,000 to 24,999 points
Turquoise shooting star () = 25,000 to 49,999 points
Purple shooting star () = 50,000 to 99,999 points
Red shooting star () = 100,000 or points or more

To Have a Good Reputation
  • Ask the seller a question about an item. Clear up any queries you have before you bid.
  • Decide a maximum price you are willing to pay and stick to it.
  • Don't bid on an item unless you intend to pay.
  • If you won a bid, keep in touch with your seller through email
  • Let him/her know how you will be paying and to confirm your address
  • Resolved any issues that arose after the sales
  • If you are meeting with the buyer/seller, be on time.
  • Dont forget to leave feedback, so buyer/seller will do the same and your rating will increase.
  • Always be courteous in answering inquiries, they may be your future buyers
  • Be honest with the item you are selling.

Payment Methods Used in eBay

Payment methods used by eBay sellers include:

PayPal - The preferred payment method on eBay - Accepts all major credit cards, debit cards, and bank transfers in one payment solution. eBay recommends using this option as a fast, secure and convenient method of payment for all of your international transactions. When you list your item with PayPal, your buyers can securely pay you online without ever sharing their financial information.

Buyers pay from either the item listing page, end of item email, or by logging into their PayPal account. Payment is deposited directly into your PayPal account. Plus, PayPal also helps you minimise your risks against fraud, buyer claims (filed with PayPal), or credit card chargebacks (a credit cardholder disputes a purchase through their financial institute). Learn more about selling with PayPal.

Important note for cross border trade sellers: To keep eBay a safe place for both buyers and sellers, you must have your PayPal account verified and linked to your eBay account if you want to sell globally.

New sellers who register after January 19, 2007 and want to sell internationally are required to offer PayPal or an approved merchant account as an accepted safe payment method for their items.

Wire Transfer - Also known as bank transfer, buyers deposit payment directly into the seller's bank account either online or at most banks. eBay recommends using this option as a safe method of payment for domestic transactions.

Other methods of payment include personal cheques, cashier's cheques, and money orders. These methods are traceable to a particular mailing address, but most sellers wait for the funds to clear before they post the item to the buyer. The advantage of these methods is that there is no additional fee to the seller.

Cash On Delivery (C.O.D.) - Payment of the item is received at the time of delivery. The buyer can choose to pay by cash, money order, or cheque, depending on what form of payment the delivery service accepts, or if the seller personally delivers the item. This option is also applicable for meetups between buyer and seller.

Cash - eBay does not recommend cash or cash wire transfers as a payment method. The lack of transaction protections, and traceability represent major risks with little to no remedy for transaction problems (see Sending Payments: Benefits and Risks).

Important: You should never accept overpayments from buyers for items where the buyer is asking to be reimbursed for overpayment. These requests could be part of a counterfeit cashier's cheque scheme.

eBay Seller Tip: Item Categories

Before listing you items, choose an appropriate category for your item.
This will help your buyer find your item easily.
You can consider listing your item to two categories.
For example an old Vase that can categorize under Antique and Home & Garden.

Search for items on eBay that are similar to yours and notice which categories they are listed in. Try several different keyword searches and see if you find particularly active categories.

Look at the page-view counters and numbers of bids on similar items in several different categories. Choose to join categories where others are having successful listings.

Currently ebay has 21 categories to choose from.

The categories are: Antiques, Automotive, Books, Cameras & Photo,Clothing, Shoes & Accessories, Coins, Collectables, Computers & Networking, Consumer Electronics,
Dolls & Bears, Entertainment, Health & Beauty,Home & Garden, Jewellery & Watches,
Mobile & Home Phones, Pets and Pet Supplies, Real Estate, Sports,Stamps, Toys & Hobbies, and Everything Else.

There are sub-categories under the categories above to be more specific with your listings.

eBay Tips: Put Photo On Your Item For Sale

    Photo Do's

    • Use proper lighting to light the entire item thoroughly.

    • Try to use a background that contrasts with the item.

      • Use a plain, colored fabric backdrop to make your item stand out. Pure white backgrounds are great for very dark items and sometimes jewelry.

      • Consider using hardwood floors as a background for large and small items.

    • Avoid background clutter that can distract buyers or confuse them regarding what you are selling.

    • Set the camera to a medium resolution (for example 1024x768 pixels). This provides excellent photo quality and results in a faster upload time for pictures used on eBay. It is also good for photo editing, if needed.

    • Photograph items at close range and at an angle.

      • Photos should be big enough to show details and fill the whole frame when appropriate.

      • Multiple photos enable buyers to see as much detail as possible. For example, tabs, labels, original packaging, and accessories.

    • Include scale where appropriate.

    • If the item has any flaws, wear, or damage be sure to document it with a photo.

    • Consider using a tripod to take sharp pictures using indoor lighting without flash.

    Photo Don'ts

    • Don’t copy pictures (without permission) from another eBay seller or manufacturer/retailer.

    • Don’t photograph using flash if your item is reflective—like a mirror or the glass on a framed picture.

    • Don’t use flash or avoid relying on it.

    • If an automatic flash comes on, it means that you need another light source or that there isn't enough natural light.

To add pictures to your listing:
    1. In the Describe your item section, enter a Title and click the Add Pictures button. A pop-up window will be displayed that defaults to the Basic tab.

    2. Click the Browse button (see A below) and search for the picture that you want to upload.

The Choose file screen will be displayed with a list of pictures that can be uploaded.

    3. Select the picture that you want to upload, then click the Open button (see B below).

The Standard tab screen will be displayed with the picture you've selected for upload (see C below). Alternately, if you have trouble using the Standard Uploader, or haven't installed Flash, version 9 or later, you can click the "Try the Basic Uploader" link on the bottom right-hand corner of the page to switch to the Basic Uploader.

    4. Click the Upload button (see D below).

The picture will be uploaded to the Sell: Create Your Listing page, under the Pictures section (see E below).

    Using the Enhanced Uploader

If you are using Windows 2000 and Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, you can use the eBay Enhanced Uploader.

Note: You will need to click the "Add/remove options" link on the Create Your Listing page, to enable the Enhanced Uploader (see the Screen above).

To add pictures to your listing:
    1. In the Describe your item section, enter a Title and click the Add Pictures button.

    2. Click the Enhanced tab and then click the Add Pictures button. The Open screen will be displayed with a list of pictures for you to choose from.

    3. Select the picture that you want to upload and then click the Open button (see A below).

The picture will be displayed under the Enhanced tab (see B below).

    Use Item Title/Description Effectively

In selling item on eBay, describe it as best as you can in Item TITLE. Don’t waste space with unnecessary words or adjectives like "Nice", "Wow", "Great", "Gorgeous" because most buyers don't search for these words.

You may include item's BRAND, DESIGNER, ARTIST and make sure you spelled it correctly. To make it more descriptive you can put the COLOR, STYLE, SIZE, or FEATURE of the item. Most buyers when they are shopping online search for an item according to the brand, or feature. Example of an item is a DVD karaoke player, "Karavision Multi - DVD Karaoke, 10k songs" , here there's a brand, the appliance and its feature.

And don't ever try to put a title like this "Karavision Multi-DVD Better Than Magic Mic" , if you don't want you item to get unlisted.

    Writing a great description

Writing a thorough description can really pay off in the price you receive for your item.

Here are some questions you may want to consider when writing your item description:

    • What is the item?

    • What material is it made of?

    • When was it made?

    • What company/artist/designer/author made it?

    • What condition is it in?

    • Is the item new, used, or still under warranty? Be sure to mention any flaws or repairs.

    • What are its dimensions?

    • What country/location is it from?

    • Does it have any notable features or markings?

    • Does it have a special background or history?

Additionally, many sellers have found that adding a creative, human approach to their descriptions boosts bids and sales.

    Consider including:

    • What you especially like about the item

    • Who you think it would appeal to and why

    • An interesting story about the item (for example, how you acquired it)

    • How the item might be used

    • Postage and Payment: Be clear about payment methods you accept. Also, be as specific as you can about your postage costs.

    • When you are finished, spell check your description for accuracy.

    Do not include:

    • Anything that is not true.

    • Keywords that are unrelated to your item to try to lure buyers searching for these words. (For example, do not say, "If you like Ralph Lauren, you'll like these towels.") This is known as "keyword spamming" and it is against eBay's listing policies.

Seller eBay Tip: Things Not To Sell on eBay Part 3

Continuation on Seller eBay Tip: Things Not To Sell on eBay Part 2

    1. Multi-level Marketing, Pyramid and Matrix Programmes
The listing and advertising of multi-level marketing programmes (including online payment randomisers), matrix, pyramid, Ponzi schemes, and all similar programmes are not permitted on eBay. Such programmes are often regulated or illegal.

    2. Offensive Material

Sellers may not list items that promote or glorify hatred, violence, or racial intolerance, or items that promote organisations with such views.

    3. Pesticides

Under Philippine law, it is an offense to import, distribute, store, or sell any pesticide, unless the seller is registered with the Fertiliser and Pesticide Authority.

It is also a requirement to register pesticides for use in the Philippines, and no person may import, distribute, or sell any pesticide, unless the same has been registered with the Fertiliser and Pesticide Authority.

Because the seller bears initial responsibility for ensuring a lawful and safe sale, sellers on eBay must state affirmatively in all pesticide listings that:

    1. the seller will comply with all applicable local laws and regulations and ensure that the purchaser satisfies all applicable laws and regulations;

    2. the seller will not accept bids from or post to countries where the pesticide is not registered as a general use pesticide.

    4. Police-Related Items

With limited exceptions (partially listed below), eBay does not permit the listing of law enforcement badges or official law enforcement equipment from any public entity, including badges issued by the government of any country.

Under Philippine law, it is an offense for any person to publicly and improperly make use of insignia, uniforms or dress pertaining to an office not held by such person or to a class of persons of which he is not a member. The unauthorised manufacture, sale, distribution and use of uniforms, insignias, and other accoutrements of the Philippine National Police is also prohibited.

    5. Postage Meters and Franking Machines
Under Philippine law, it is a postal offense to sell, offer for sale, import or export any ‘franking machine’ without the written approval from the regulatory authority (which is the Department of Transportation and Communication) . Accordingly, the listing of postage meters or franking machines are not permitted on eBay.

    6. Prescription Drugs
Controlled drugs or items (or their components) that require a prescription from a licensed practitioner (such as a doctor, dentist, ophthalmologist or optometrist) are not permitted on eBay; this includes drugs prescribed by veterinarians for animals. Under Philippine law, it is an offense to sell, offer for sale, import, export, distribute, or transfer any drug without a licence. In particular, the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act requires all drugs sold in the Philippines to be licensed with the Bureau of Food and Drugs. It is also an offense for sellers to make a false, deceptive, or misleading advertisement of any drug for the purpose of inducing, directly or indirectly, their purchase.

    7. Prohibited Services
Sellers are not permitted to offer or solicit services on the eBay site that are illegal, sexual in nature or that violate eBay’s User Agreement.

    8. Real Estate

To best meet the needs of our users while accommodating the wide variety of laws governing the sale of real estate across the globe, eBay offers advertisements of real estate in a variety of formats. These Real Estate Rules explain these format offerings, clarify eBay's limited role as a publisher of advertising and venue-provider, and outline certain limitations on eBay's obligations and liabilities. Your use of the eBay Real Estate Pages confirms your agreement to these rules.

    eBay Real Estate Inc.

Real estate advertising services on eBay are offered by eBay Real Estate Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of eBay Inc. On eBay's site and in these Rules, this company is referred to as "eBay Real Estate".

Due to the wide variety of laws governing the sale of real estate, eBay Real Estate auction-style advertisements of real property do not involve legally binding offers to buy and sell. Instead, eBay Real Estate's listings are simply a way for sellers to advertise their real estate and meet potential buyers. eBay is commonly referred to as an online auction Web site, however eBay Real Estate is not a traditional "auctioneer". eBay Real Estate is not involved in the actual transaction between buyers and sellers and, as a result, has no control over the quality, safety or legality of the properties advertised, the truth or accuracy of the postings, the ability of sellers to sell items or the ability of buyers to buy items. eBay cannot ensure that a buyer or seller will actually complete a transaction.

The sale of real estate is regulated under the Property Registration Decree (Presidential Decree 1529), whilst the sale of condominiums is under the purview of the Condominium Act (Republic Act 4726). The Land Registration Authority (LRA) is the main governmental body in charge of land registration in the Philippines. It provides the public with access to the Land Register containing particulars of registered property transactions for private lands in the Philippines.

Members should note that there are restrictions on foreign ownership of private residential property in the Philippines. Foreign persons (including natural persons and corporations) are restricted from purchasing private lands, except if such foreign person (natural person only) was formerly a natural-born Philippine citizen.

Approval will have to be obtained from the Minister for Law to purchase a restricted residential property.

    9. Recalled Items

In the Philippines, the Bureau of Product Standards ( BPS) is the National Standards Body of the Philippines. BPS formulates safety and quality product standards to protect consumer welfare. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) implements these standards. For imported articles covered by Philippine National Standards declared mandatory, the BPS issues the import commodity clearance.

Consumer products which are found injurious, unsafe, or dangerous are liable to recall, prohibition, or seizure from public sale or distribution (Consumer Act).

eBay strongly supports the efforts of BPS to protect consumers against potentially hazardous goods. eBay does not permit the listing of items that are not in conformity with applicable product quality and safety standards.

    10. Slot Machines
eBay will not generally permit the listing of coin-operated slot machines on its Web site. The sale of coin-operated slot machines is regulated or forbidden in most circumstances in the Philippines, taking into account the presence of gambling elements in such machines. Out of respect for these laws, eBay will not generally permit the listing of coin-operated slot machines on its Web site.

    11. Stamps

eBay does not permit the sale of stamps that are fraudulent or improperly described. Sellers who knowingly fail to disclose information about the authenticity of a stamp, alterations to the stamp, or other information that might have a material impact on the stamp's value will also be subject to eBay action as stated below.

If unsure of the origin or authenticity of the stamp, please state this clearly in the listing. Do not sell an item "As Is" regarding its authenticity.

    12. Stocks and Other Securities
The sale of shares, stock or other securities is not permitted on eBay.

    13. Stolen Property
eBay strictly forbids the sale of stolen property, which violates the law. eBay strongly supports law enforcement efforts to recover stolen property that is listed on its Web site, and urges the prosecution of those responsible for knowingly attempting to sell such items on eBay.

    14. Surveillance Equipment

eBay does not permit the sale of products that are designed primarily to record the private oral, wire or electronic conversations of others without their knowledge or permission.

Certain types of telecommunication equipment are prohibited from entry into the Philippines unless prior approval by the National Telecommunications Commission has been obtained. Equipment in this category includes scanning receivers / transmitters which could be used by unauthorised persons for unlawful interception of signals. For security purposes, the import of such equipment into the Philippines is prohibited.

There is no specific law on privacy in the Philippines that otherwise prohibits or regulates the sale of electronic surveillance equipment and devices. However, since the use of such equipment and devices violates the privacy of individuals, eBay has taken a policy decision to not allow the sale of such items on eBay.

    15. Tobacco
Since the sale of tobacco products is highly regulated in the Philippines, cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco or coupons for such items are not permitted on eBay.ph.

    16. Transit and Postage Related Items
In order to help support government, transit and postal industry efforts to ensure passenger and package safety, eBay does not permit certain transit- and postage-related items.

    17. Travel
eBay has special rules limiting who can sell travel-related items on eBay, and what can be sold.

    18. Used Clothes
Used clothing (except underwear) may be listed on eBay as long as the clothing has been thoroughly cleaned according to the manufacturer's instructions. Listings that contain inappropriate descriptions will be ended.

    19. Used Cosmetics
Used cosmetics are not permitted for sale on eBay.

    20. Weeds and Seeds
While eBay permits the listing of plants on the site, buyers and sellers are encouraged to acquaint themselves with the requirements of importing plants in the Philippines, which would require an ‘import permit’ as well as a ‘phytosanitary certificate’ from the country of origin.

Seller eBay Tip: Things Not To Sell on eBay Part 2

Continuation on Seller eBay Tip: Things Not To Sell on eBay Part 1

    1. Electronics Equipment

Certain electronics equipment, including equipment prohibited by the National Telecommunications Commission, is not permitted to be listed on eBay.

Under Philippine regulations, purchase and sale of radio communication equipment requires a licence. Mobile phones offered for sale, whether new or second-hand, must bear the stickers approved by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC). Non-compliance renders the seller liable to a fine.

    2. Electronic Surveillance Equipment

eBay does not permit the sale of products that are designed primarily to record the private oral, wire or electronic conversations of others without their knowledge or permission.

    3. Embargoed Goods and Prohibited Countries

The sale of certain types of items is prohibited to particular countries under Philippine regulations. Various US agencies also have sanctions in place that substantially regulate or ban all trade with particular countries (including Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea and other countries). US Federal agencies have also banned or regulated trade between US persons with certain organisations, businesses and persons. eBay does not permit the sale of embargoed items from, with or to those countries, organisations, businesses or persons.
Buyers and sellers posting internationally should periodically review current information about which countries may be affected by sanctions enforced by Philippine Customs and/or the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury.

    4. Event Tickets

eBay permits resale of tickets to entertainment events (including sporting events, concerts, and plays) to the fullest extent permitted by law. Ticket sellers are responsible for ensuring that transactions do not violate any applicable law.

    5. Firearms, Weapons and Knives

Since many firearm-related items, gun parts, gun accessories, paintball equipment and accessories, stun guns, crossbows, airsoft equipment and accessories, hand weapons and throwing knives are not permitted on eBay, sellers must carefully review the Some Examples section below before listing these items and adhere to all the policies outlined.

Furthermore, because of the varied international laws related to the sale of these items, those that are permitted may only be sold on eBay Philippines under the following two conditions.

    • The item is sold by sellers and buyers who are located in the Philippines and
    • The item location is also in the Philippines

Note: Philippine sellers must offer only domestic postage on these products, since offering global postage will make the product available in countries where these items are prohibited.

Any arms and explosives listed on eBay Philippines must comply with the Presidential Decree No. 1866 (as amended) covering the manufacture, import, export, sale and possession of weapons. Otherwise, these items are not permitted on eBay. Members on eBay are advised to consult the Philippine National Police Firearms and Explosives Division or the Department of Interior and Local Government prior to dealing in such items.

Licensed sellers on eBay should also note that firearms, air-guns or guns may only be sold to government departments or persons who are licensed to possess such arms. Licensees must be at least 21 years of age.

    6. Food
The sale of food is strictly regulated and sellers who list food and food-related products should familiarise themselves with the applicable laws before listing such items on eBay. Prior to listing any food on eBay, sellers should read the Additional Information section to learn more about what food items are not permitted.

    7. Gift Cards

eBay permits the listing of gift cards, with the following restrictions:

    • The value of the gift card may not exceed $500.

    • Gift cards may not be sold as pre-sale items and must be in hand at the time of listing.

    • Only one gift card may be listed per week, per seller. No exceptions will be made for sellers with multiple accounts. For the purposes of this policy, eBay defines one week as seven days from the end of the previous Gift Card listing close.

    • Multiple Gift Cards cannot be combined under a single listing

eBay, at its discretion, may approve first party suppliers or authorised third party contractors to sell gift cards in excess of these restrictions.

    8. Government and Transit Documents
Any official internal, non-public documents, manuals, or other materials related to mass commercial public transportation, including internal manuals put out by commercial airlines, or entities operating subways, trains, or buses are not permitted on eBay.

    9. Government IDs and Licenses
Government IDs and licences, or items that claim to be, or that look similar to, government identification documents are not permitted on eBay. Since the unauthorised use or sale of official government IDs and licences are prohibited in the Philippines, eBay does not allow the listing of such items on eBay.

    10. Hazardous, Restricted, and Perishable Items

Hazardous or dangerous goods (such as radioactive materials, flammable gases, liquids and solids, and toxic substances) may pose a danger to health, safety or property while being transported. Many hazardous goods cannot be posted through the mail or commercial carriers at all. Items of such nature are not permitted to be listed on eBay.

A few hazardous materials may legally be transported under certain conditions if they are properly packaged and labelled. Such items are permitted on eBay, provided that the listing contains a clear notice of the hazardous nature of the material, and a description of the planned method of postage that complies with the applicable laws in the buyer’s and seller’s countries.

    11. Human Parts and Remains

The listing of humans, the human body, any human body parts or human remains are not permitted on eBay. However, items that contain human hair (such as lockets) as well as skulls and skeletons that are used for medical purposes may be listed on eBay.

    12. Importation of Goods into Singapore, Malaysia or the Philippines
Members importing goods into the Philippines from another country, either by selling or buying items listed on eBay, are responsible for ensuring that the importation of that type of product complies with applicable Philippine laws. These laws often are complex, and issues will vary depending upon exactly what item is involved and the countries in which the buyer and seller reside.

Please note that eBay does not permit its users to do business with persons from certain countries - since eBay is a US company, all eBay users must respect the US rules in this area when doing business over eBay. For more information, please also see section on “Embargoed Goods and Prohibited Countries”.
    13. International Trading
eBay insists that listings and transactions comply with the laws of the countries where both the seller and the buyer reside. Members are responsible for ensuring that their transactions are lawful in both countries. eBay strongly suggests that members educate themselves about the laws of their own country and the countries where they plan to do business.

    14. Items Encouraging Illegal Activity
eBay prohibits the sale of items or links to items that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity.

    15. Lockpicking Devices
eBay does not permit the listing of any lockpicking or locksmithing device. eBay users are cautioned that under Philippine law, it is an offense for any person to possess, without lawful cause, picklocks or similar tools specially adopted to the commission of the crime of robbery Since lockpicking devices would fall under this category, these are prohibited from being listed on eBay.

    16. Lottery Tickets
eBay does not allow the sale of lottery tickets.

    17. Mailing Lists and Personal Information
eBay does not permit the sale of bulk email, Internet Protocol (IP), Instant Messenger (IM), or mailing lists that contain names, addresses, phone numbers, or other personal identifying information. Any tools or software designed predominantly to send unsolicited commercial messages (UCE or "spam") will not be permitted.

    18. Manufacturers' Coupons
eBay permits the listing of valid coupons on its site, with some limitations. eBay is committed to working with the coupon industry to help ensure that eBay is not a venue for fraudulent coupon-related transactions and to provide its users with a safe place to trade.

    19. Medical Devices
For the health and safety of eBay users and to encourage compliance with applicable laws, eBay has instituted several rules relating to sales of medical devices on our site. eBay allows the sale of most prescription medical devices, but requires sellers of medical devices that require a prescription for distribution to the public to strictly follow certain rules when listing such items on eBay.

    20. Mobile Phone (Wireless) Service Contracts
Mobile phone service contracts may be listed on eBay either alone or bundled with a phone, subject to such a transfer of mobile phone service contracts being permitted under the original contract between the mobile phone company and the seller.

Seller eBay Tip: Things Not To Sell on eBay Part 1

Before start selling on eBay.ph or any global eBay site, make sure your item is not subject to restrictions and prohibitions.

As an eBay seller, you are ultimately responsible for making sure that selling an item is legal in the eyes of the law.

Here are the list of things that you should not sell on eBay:

    1. Obscene Items

eBay does not permit the listing of erotica, or sexually-oriented, or otherwise obscene, materials.

An item is obscene if its effect or (where the item comprises 2 or more distinct parts or items) the effect of any one of its parts or items, if taken as a whole, is such as to tend to deprave and corrupt persons who are likely, having regard to all relevant circumstances, to read, see or hear the matter contained or embodied in it.

    2. Alocohol /Wine

eBay does not permit the sale of alcoholic beverages on its Philippine Web site, except for certain sales of collectable containers or alcohol-related collectables. Sale of any intoxicating liquors without a government permit is prohibited in the Philippines.

    3. Animals and Wildlife

eBay generally does not encourage the listing of live animals or pets on eBay, but in the listing of live animals or pets and/or animals or pets supplies, sellers shall ensure that such listings comply with all governmental laws and regulations. In restricted cases, some stuffed birds and the pelts and skins of some animals are permitted.

    4. Artefacts, Art Treasures, Grave-Related Items, and Indigenous Crafts

everal countries in the world have legislations that regulate the export trade in artefacts, antiquities and art treasures to prevent fraudulent dealings in such artefacts and antiquities. Since they may be protected under the laws of several countries, users of eBay are advised to exercise caution when they are listing, buying or selling such artefacts and antiquities on eBay.

Since these items are protected under the laws of several countries, they may not be permitted on eBay.

    5. Catalytic Converters and Test Pipes

The sale of catalytic converters on eBay is permitted, unless such sale contravenes any other law or regulation in the Philippines.

    6. Charity or Fundraising Listings

eBay encourages community members to be active in supporting charitable endeavours. eBay permits sellers to list items on eBay and collect proceeds (in whole or in part) on behalf of a charity as long as the listings comply with applicable laws and regulations. Under Philippine regulations, fundraising may only be conducted on behalf of recognised charities and all members are required to obtain a licence in order to conduct or participate in any fundraising appeal.

    7. Coins

eBay does not permit the sale of coins or paper money that are fraudulent or improperly described. Sellers who knowingly fail to disclose information about the authenticity of coins or paper money, alterations to coins or paper money, or other information that might have a material impact on the coin or paper money value may become liable for an offense in the Philippines.

    8. Contracts
Sellers should avoid listing an item which the seller is not permitted to sell due to contractual obligations entered into with a third party. Prior to listing items on eBay, sellers should carefully read any contract they have entered into that might prohibit or limit their rights to sell items on eBay.

    9. Counterfeit Currency and Stamps

Counterfeit currency, coins, bank notes and Government stamps as well as equipment designed to make these illegal products may not be listed on eBay. It is an offense to sell, buy, import or export such items in the Philippines.

Sales of reproductions of images of the current series of Philippine notes and coins are allowed provided that the conditions in the Rules and Regulations on the Reproduction and/or Use of Legal Tender have been complied with. However, reproduction of the old series coins is prohibited.

    10. Credit Cards

eBay permits the listing of inactive or expired credit or debit cards, provided that the expiry date on the face of the card is at least 10 years old. Such 10-year old, expired debit/credit cards may be considered 'collectable' and may have some collectable value. Sellers should examine the terms and conditions on the card to ensure that the sale of the expired card is permitted.

If posting a picture of the card, the seller should cover or block out at least part of the name and/or credit card number.

    11. Drugs & Drug Paraphernalia

Narcotics, steroids or other dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential chemicals may not be listed on eBay. It is an offense to import, sell, trade, distribute, or deliver dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential chemicals in the Philippines. (Republic Act 9165)

Drug paraphernalia may not be listed on eBay. Such paraphernalia includes equipment, instrument, apparatus and other paraphernalia for dangerous drugs, knowing, or under circumstances where one reasonably should know, that it will be used to plant, propagate, cultivate, grow, harvest, manufacture, compound, convert, produce, process, prepare, test, analyse, pack, repack, store, contain or conceal any dangerous drug and/or controlled precursor and essential chemical in the Philippines.

    12. Drugs, Describing Drugs or Drug-like Substances

eBay prohibits sellers from describing legal substances in a manner that suggests ingesting, inhaling, extracting or otherwise using any substance or compound from the legal substance will provide the same effect as an illegal drug, compound or substance or that will provide unsubstantiated health benefits.
